Meet Tia McGraff

Biggest Musical Influence and why?
Hands down Dolly Parton! Dolly is everything an artist needs to be in today’s indie music world. Her singing and songwriting go without saying, brilliant! Dolly was writing hit songs when it wasn’t cool for women to write songs. She is a brilliant business person. She has the industry down to a T and makes no bones about it. However, her humanitarian spirit shines through her Dolly Parton Imagination Library Foundation and I am just blessed to be supporting it here in my local chapter.

Biggest achievement in music thus far?
Meeting and marrying my musical and life partner Tommy Parham. Tommy and I are a team and my current success and sustainability wouldn’t be what it is without him by my side.

If you could give your fans one message what would it be?
Work your ass off! Seriously, there are so many talented singer/songwriters out there that are out there every day promoting and gigging, but hard work will not only set you apart from most, it will ensure that you have longevity. They can’t take that away from you. Whenever I get a rejection of some kind, and feel down, I go to work…book a gig, or write a song, or promote a show. It just keeps you going.

If you are not an artist right now what would you be doing?
I loved writing my first children’s’ book, Jake The Road Dawg and know that if I decided to stop touring and recording, I would love to spend my full time writing children’s books.
