Did you watch season 14 of The Voice? If so, you might have heard the unforgettable voice of JessLee. A Florida native, born in Loxahatchee, FL, JessLee says “Living in Loxahatchee, a very rural and country part of FL, did influence my music a bit”, It’s an area in FL where country and rock music are the dominate genres of music spinning.”. Heavily influenced by Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, The Veronica’s, Miranda Lambert and a handful more of awesome guitar driven girl songs, JessLee has always loved the girl rocker chicks who bused into the industry strong and fearless.
JessLee’s Journey to The Voice
JessLee was contacted directly by The Voice series directly after the release of her single “Burn”. This allowed her to skip the pre-audition madness with over 40,000 people venturing out to be a part of this NBC show. She flew out to LA and was able to move on to the blind audition and picked coach Blake Shelton, she says that she picked Blake because he recognized her country rock style and understood the artist she is. JessLee describes The Voice as “The Voice was an unexpected, yet fun adventure! I did not start where a lot of people start, at the cattle call auditions. The show contacted me, and I jumped a large part of the process. I am all about really living and experiencing as much as possible in life so, when I was offered a paid trip to California to do what I love most, I was in! Being on Team Blake was fun and he was a pleasure to work with.”. JessLee was unfortunately eliminated in the Knockouts against Kyla Jade.
Hurricane Tour 2019
This November, JeeLee released her first single after the Voice “Hurricane”. This song was co-written with Steve Virginia from South of Somewhere. The story of the song is “A girl explaining a man who comes into her life and he is as destructive as a hurricane. I use some cool storm metaphors and witty, word play in the song with the hook being “they should name a Hurricane after him”. The single was recorded at Omnisound in Nashville, you can stream and/or purchase it on any platform you listen to your music on. JessLee starts her Hurricane tour next year and all show dates will be announced after the holidays. Her tour will stop in locations where her biggest fan bases are located. So, if you want her to stop in a city near you, be sure to share, buy and stream her music, it’s going to be a show you are not going to want to miss. Her dates will be announced on her Facebook fan page, Instagram, her JessLeeGION fan club and on her website.
Along with the start of her new tour JessLee will officially be moving to Nashville at the beginning of the New Year. When asked what she is looking forward to most “it’s honestly all excitement! “I’ve been spending so much time there, for the past 3 years and I’ve been able to write with some awesome people, play some great rounds/shows and make an incredible group of friends before I officially made the move. Now that I feel like a lot is already going on for me out there, it’s going to be a fun and exciting move!”.
Life Outside of Music
With all her musical success the one thing that captured my attention most about JeeLee was her story and what she is doing with it. JeeLee has a passion for health and fitness. and has combined her music and fitness, “Music & Muscles” into an educational and nonprofit program called S.T.R.O.N.G. The message she is hoping to deliver with S.T.R.O.N.G is about the importance of self-love, and that no matter the obstacles you face remain mentally, physically and spiritually strong! She describes STRONG as “a morph between a Tony Robbins convention and a big awesome live concert! She is hoping to continue to raise enough money to have the children follow along with a free workbook and a STRONG program soundtrack. Her single “STRONG” is the theme song of the program and she will perform this song along with many other covers to inspire the students.
We can’t wait to see all of the fantastic things in store for JessLee in 2019. We’re rooting for you!
