After 12 years and 6 albums, pop superstar Taylor Swift leaves Nashville’s Big Machine to sign with Universal Music Group. As part of her new deal with Universal, Swift will own all of her future master-recording rights by licensing them to UMG for a period of anywhere up to 10 Years.
Swift using her influence didn’t just stop there, she expressed her passion and dedication to accomplishing one major goal with this new deal.
“There was one condition which meant more to me than any other deal point. As part of my new contract with Universal Music Group, I asked that any sale of their Spotify shares result in a distribution of money to their artists, non-recoupable.”
